Use at least one method to lobby for HB2695.  It is

considerably better if you use more than one method,

even with the same message!!!

To e-mail legislators:

use e-mail addresses at

<http://aaupaz.org/AZ_Leg_E.htm>

[If you know how to send a blind carbon copy, send the

message to yourself, with a blind carbon copy to all

legislators at once]

Start your e-mail with:

Dear Legislator,

My name is [name] and I want a yes vote on HB2695, the

whistle-blower bill.

My reason is that [choose one or more reasons below or

make different one(s) or else use one or more of the

sample letters at <http://aaupaz.org/HB2695SL.htm>]:

(1) whistle-blowers are the major way to remove waste

in government;

(2) our budget trouble would be over if the

whistle-blower, Amanda Ormond, who blew the whistle on

the Alt-Fuels scandal had been protected protected,

but she was terminated;

(3) our current whistle-blower law does not work;

(4) whistle-blowers need to be able to get a lawyer to

protect them on a contingency fee basis;

(5) other-----

To call legislators

(takes about 2 minutes per call)

(you will usually reach a secretary who will take a

short lobbying message)

Outside Phoenix area: 1-800-352-8404

Phoenix area: (602)542-4900

(these numbers get the switchboard), then ask to be

connected to the office of Rep.[name] or Sen. [name].

Start by saying:

"My name is [name] and I want a yes vote on HB2695,

the whistle-blower bill.  My reason is that [choose

one or make a different one]:

(1) whistle-blowers are the major way to remove waste

in government;

(2) our budget trouble would be over if the

whistle-blower on the Alt-Fuels scandal was protected;

(3) our current whistle-blower law does not work;

(4) whistle-blowers need to be able to get a lawyer to

protect them on a contingency fee basis;

(5) other-----

They will then ask you where you live, or what your

phone number is (to see if you are a constituent of

the legislator called), and they will say goodbye.

To send a hard copy to legislators

(and Governor's Office and Attorney General's Office):

Easiest:  Please send one signed hard copy, with your

return land-mail address, to me at the address below,

and I will duplicate it and address it to all

legislators as quickly as I can.  I will also send a

copy to members of the Governor's Office staff, and

the Attorney General's staff.  Send your hard copy to:

AAUP Liaison/Russ Dove

3661 N Campbell Ave

Tucson, Arizona 85719

Harder:  Write a letter that could go to all

legislators, starting with your return address and

date, and then  "Dear [leave blank], then text of

message, and sign it."  Xerox 90 copies, and add the

name of legislator in handwriting to each --see list

of legislators at <http://aaupaz.org/AZ_Leg_E.htm>--

and send each letter to the appropriate legislator,

making sure that you use your personal back address.

Mail address:

Rep. or Sen. [name]

1700 W. Washington St.

Phoenix, AZ 85007

  You can then carry your letters to the legislature

for distribution, or put stamps on and mail them.  Do

not use your agency stationery.  This takes about 2

hours for the addressing and signing part.

To fax legislators when the time is short:

For Representatives, use:

(602)542-4511 for Republicans (or use this number if

you don't know if he or she is a Republican or a

Democrat)

(602)542-4308 for Democrats

For all Senators, use:

(602)542-3429
